Disco meets Bingo

A Canadian entrepreneur has married the two seemingly irreconcilable leisure activities of bingo and disco dancing with great effect.

While few people would have thought of combining bingo with disco, DJ Jason Pelletier has a reputation for creating unusual combinations of dance music with other recreational activities, including his Spins and Needles nights which combine handicrafts with disco music.

Pelletier's latest brainchild is Disco Bingo which allows players to mix bingo with boogie. The games take place in a club with music playing, while the DJ calls out the numbers for the bingo game. This odd concept has proved to be incredibly successful, with Pelletier routinely selling out his Disco Bingo nights.

Disco Bingo has also attracted a new demographic to the game. While one might have expected the combination to put off both young clubbers and aging bingo players, Disco Bingo has instead proved to be a major hit with young and old alike.

Young professionals rub shoulders with pensioners at the packed Dsco Bingo evenings which seem to offer something for everyone. What's more amazing is that the player's aren't there for the money, as no cash prizes are rewarded at the events, and only cans of corned beef or mini disco balls up for grabs.
